The glue has dried and the second, third and fourth birthday presents of the year are wrapped (January is a very busy birthday month) and ready to have little hands shoved inside. They are basically blanket stitched felt gloves onto which I mod podged more felt. Of course, they each have a moustache.
Today has been my favourite day of the year so far.
Having torn myself away from watching every single episode of Lost from the very beginning (too much time on my hands? me?), I have decided to make the entire collection of niece/nephew/godchildren birthday gifts for the year over the next couple of weeks. Beginning with a little puppetry from Mabs Tyler's Big Book of Soft Toys (I love my 1970s craft library).

In celebration of an impending visit from some Buffalo buddies, I am beginning to think about stationery at Muji and lunch at Liberty and fantastic museum visits.
All this excitement is exhausting, so I might have a little nap under David's Christmas present - a quilt made from lots of his old favourite shirts, boxer shorts, pyjamas and even a sarong (two sarongs don't make a right). He gave me permission to hack them to pieces - in fact before he throws anything away these days, he offers it up to the sewing god first - but his very own quilt was a happy surprise for him. Tends to be me more than him wrapped under it of an evening at the moment though, because a. It's cold and b. He's out climbing, swimming, running or cycling most evenings (if he's not on the phone to the police about his stolen burnt out car that is).
I've been a bit lazy. Maybe more than a bit. Over the last month, I have been doing a lot of visiting my dad interspersed with sleeping, watching crappy movies in front of a crackling log fire, plenty of eating and absolutely no blogging or crafting. It's been bloody lovely. But a little bird in Buffalo has been tweeting in my ear, so here are a couple of things I actually left the house for in December...
